Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit describes the skills and knowledge to analyse an organisation’s interactions with its environment, the specifics of the local situation and determine risks and vulnerabilities (hot spots) for close monitoring or action. This includes the analysis of an organisation’s interactions with its environment through an application of the principles of sustainability and an understanding of climate change and other significant sustainability issues, such as resource depletion. The organisation’s environment, for the purpose of this unit, is considered to include the ecology it impacts, the economic impacts on the organisation and the social impacts of the organisation. This unit covers the identification of items which have the potential for a major sustainability impact, and so require some response from the organisation. This unit applies to an entire organisation; part of a large organisation or part or all of a value chain. A manager or senior technologist who has significant responsibility for sustainability in their work role would typically undertake this unit. Skills covered by this unit may be applied individually or in a team context. No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied. | ||
